In the days leading up to the holidays, craft retailers across the country are scrambling to find the best ways to promote their wares and boost sales.
The craft business community is already experiencing a resurgence.
But some business owners are seeing an uptick in demand as craft sales rise.
Craft stores are hoping the industry can continue to thrive as they continue to grow.
“There’s a lot of growth that’s going on, so you’ve got to keep that momentum going,” said David Hays, president and founder of The Craftsman.
“The craft business is thriving and it’s getting bigger every day.”
The CraftSaver, which has more than 700 shops nationwide, has seen an uptick of at least $20 million in sales each year since 2011.
“I think there’s been a lot more interest and I think a lot fewer stores,” said Hays.
“We’ve seen that in the last couple years with the advent of Amazon, the resurgence of craft beer and the resurgence in craft spirits.
I think we’re seeing a resurgence in both of those categories.”
Crafts and craft beer are growing rapidly in the US.
Sales in 2015 totaled more than $3.4 billion, according to the Brewers Association.
That’s up nearly 80% from the year before.
Craft spirits, which include whiskey, rum and vodka, is up a whopping 81%.
Craft beer is also growing.
Sales last year totaled nearly $2.3 billion, up almost 50% from 2015.
In addition, sales in the craft beer industry are up nearly 25% from last year, according the Brewers.
Craft beer sales account for more than two-thirds of all beer sold in the United States.
In 2015, beer sales accounted for more of all craft beer sales.
“It’s a little bit like if you go to the grocery store and you see that the wine market is booming and you go and buy wine, then you can’t buy any wine,” said John McGlone, owner of McGlones Craft Beer Store.
“So the same thing applies to craft.
It’s a pretty big market.
It just so happens that a lot people want to buy craft beer.”
Hays said his store, The CraftShop, is also seeing a lot growth in sales, which is why he is so excited about opening a second store.
“In a lot the craft shops that we’ve opened in the past, we’ve been able to make a ton of money because of the fact that we’re doing a lot less,” he said.
“But I’m very excited to open a second location, and I’m excited to bring our store to the next level.”
The store will open on December 4.
In the meantime, McGlances sales manager said he will continue to invest in the store to make sure it is always ready for business.
“When it comes to a business that you do in your spare time, you don’t have enough money,” he explained.
“If you want to go out and sell craft beer, you need a lot.
If you want craft spirits, you can afford to spend a little more money, and that’s just a fact of life.”

“Craft is the new beer,” said McGlobe.
“That’s why we’re opening the store, because craft is so popular.”
